I wish to introduce to the reader one of the most detailed and original artists I am privileged to know: Julie Rauer…co-founder of ART SCIENCE COMPLEX. This work deserves its own section, so perfectly aimed between the poles of art and science. I receive much awkward poetry which fails to tread this difficult pathway, and discourage such submissions. Poetry should be filled with emotion. How rare, how fantastic to meet a "visual poet" who adeptly intuits and articulates the commonality of processes which connect together all of our world. There is beauty and intricacy in the natural world, a dynamism of connectivity, a sub-texture of processes which in conflict and resolution, unfold an impossible and hidden thing, something always present, so fundamental it goes unnoticed….which we now may see. Mother nature is described by science. Here we observe her beauty and connectivity, her gifts both subtle and cruel, as they create, consume and nourish all things. Nothing could be more fascinating than that.

Morphogenetic Origami Tesselations
by Bruce Gemmell: Co-founder of ART SCIENCE COMPLEX
Inventing and folding the hexagonal metaphor: traveling through beehive honeycomb; diving into the aromatic compound heart of Benzine; traversing foam bubbles and basalt columns; crawling across the scutes of a turtle's carapace; inventing a narrative form for pictographic science fables; designing exoplanet habitation discs.
Intrinsic to the progression of Math-Origami exercises and their corresponding visualization models, is an understanding of developmental biology, and the organic engineering principles by which nature folds, beautifully realized in complex structures such as: DNA, proteins, insect wings, flowers, and intestinal villi. Termed "Morphogenetic Origami" by ART SCIENCE COMPLEX, an organization devoted to visualizing interdisciplinary science through fine art, these original models are born from the fundamental necessity of imagination, and inspired by Morphogenesis, the biological process through which organisms develop their diverse shapes. Analogous to the microarchitectures of cell growth patterns and cellular differentiation, Origamic macroarchitectures reveal the art which exists within science.
